What is the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety

The International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety is a not-for-profit professional organization of healthcare security and safety executives around the world. Our membership also includes vendors offering state-of-the-art products and services that serve to enhance security and safety programs.

The IAHSS was founded in 1968 by a visionary group of healthcare security administrators, and has grown to be the largest association of its kind. It works to improve and professionalize security and safety in healthcare facilities through the exchange of information and experiences among healthcare security and safety executives. It promotes cooperation among the members and provides healthcare security and safety executives with current information through educational programs and publications designed to meet the challenges and complexities of protecting a modern healthcare facility.

The IAHSS's efficient network of Officers, Regional and Chapter Chairpersons avail themselves to the membership by offering information concerning healthcare security and safety planning, administration, management, policy and procedure. The IAHSS has also developed a healthcare Security Officer Basic Training Certification Standard, Supervisory Development Standard, Safety Standard, the first of their kind in any industry.
