Mission Statement of the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety
The International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety is committed to the further professionalism, strengthening and growth of quality security and safety programs in healthcare institutions internationally through extensive activity in the areas of certification standards, developments of professional publications, seminars and education, and legislative involvement when deemed appropriate.

The Association maintains continual professional liaisons with various healthcare organizations, as well as law enforcement, security and safety organizations worldwide. The intent is to assure the overall quality of service to all occupants of the healthcare environment in member institutions in the area of security and safety.

IAHSS Boston Chapter Goals and Objectives for 2009 - 2010

* Improve Website for program registration and online payment for Boston IAHSS related events

* Add links on website in line with organizations reflective of chapter and national goals

* Improve collection processes for balances associated with chapter (see above)

* Increase chapter membership with hospital safety, security professionals and vendors

* Spread meeting locations to other venues in MA

* Have luncheon meetings - possibly hosted by vendors - lunch n' learn's

* Have a 10 - 15 minute best practices session at each chapter meeting

* Join initiatives, such as Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention

* Development of more joint/shared training sessions between hospital Security departments
